Mission 69: Blooming of Cherry Blossom Leaf Hazakura (作戦 69. 葉桜の開花, Hazakura no kaika) is the sixty-ninth chapter of Hitsuji Gondaira's Mission: Yozakura Family.
Akai uses her Blooming and continues her fight with Futaba, as part of her past is also revealed.
Summary[]
Akai awakens her Blooming and uses a ray of condensed heat to attack Futaba, she tries to deflect it but it ends up wrapping around her arm. Futaba quickly removes her arm as the glove gets incinerated, Akai reveals that her ability excretes a gas that causes a flame that doesn't extinguish until it burns what it touches. Akai send her flames into the ground which sprout out to attack Futaba who still manages to deflect them, Akai begins to press on further.
As Akai's attacks become more fierce Taiyo and the rest of the family below hear the attacks, the Logistics Support Team are unable to use their radar due to Akai's heat. The rest of the Nijibana Rainbow Flowers continue to watch as Kawashita remembers how he met Akai.
Whilst Kawashita was looking at his stolen medical records for candidates compatible with the Cherry Blossom Leaf Hazakura he see's a 17 year old Akai, whose name is Miki Akasaka. As Kawashita was going to her home to use her as an experiment the house was already being burnt down by an arsonist. Kawashita enteres the house whilst its still burning with Kurosawa and in order to keep Akai alive, he uses parts from her siblings corpses and grafted them to her body. The memories of the arson alongside the Hazakura lead to Akai developing her fire powers. The transformed Akai along with Kawashita hunt down the arsonist and kill him, and Akai cries after getting her revenge.
The fight with Akai and Futaba continues as Akai states that Futaba may be able to parry her attacks but not the heat so she's eventually burn to a crisp, she taunts her to try and kill her. Futaba looks back on the incident involving Mutsumi's capture by Tanpopo, she states how she learnt how to calm her frustrations (unlike Akai) in order to not harm her family. She mentions that the ways they both deal with their emotions are different but both come from their strength within. Out of respect for them both being Elder siblings Futaba accepts her hostility and activates her Blooming.
